The unofficial start to summer happened over Memorial Day weekend, and it's already off to a deadly start. Several fatal crashes occurred on Utah's roads, leading to a grim start for the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer. In this special hour of Inside Sources, Greg and Holly discuss the ways in which we can all work together to keep Utah's roads safe. They're joined first by Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden, who provides updates on the Memorial Day weekend crashes and shares general safety tips for the highways. UDOT's John Gleason then joins the conversation to discuss work zone safety. The coverage takes a more emotional turn with Chuck Groat, a local Utahn who lost his son to speeding in 2020; he shares his message to all Utahns to stay safe. Hundreds spent part of their long holiday weekend protesting the center, taking to the steps of the state capitol. In addition to environmental and energy concerns, complaints about the process and alleged lack of transparency continue to infuriate many Utahns. Amber Alert still in effect for two young boys taken from Saratoga Springs

Police now suspect that the man who kidnapped his two boys has fled to Mexico. Law enforcement issued an Amber Alert late Saturday and early Sunday for 10-month-old Will and 22-month-old Wesley Richman. The alert said the boys had been taken by their father, 46-year-old Stephen Richman of Saratoga Springs, who did not have custody at the time. Holly and Greg share the latest updates on this ongoing situation.

A huge plume of thick black smoke billowed around Davis and Weber counties yesterday, dropping ash around the region. It was part of a controlled burn to control invasive phragmites, but it wasn't alone – several fires started around the state over the long holiday weekend. And fire danger remains high today and through the rest of the week. KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson explains the ongoing fire danger and what a potential El Niño could do for Utah this summer.
