Each year from 18–24 May, New South Wales marks Law Week, an annual event aimed at raising public awareness about legal rights and responsibilities. The week features seminars, lectures, and public presentations that promote justice, fairness, and equality within the community. Solicitor Oliver Slewa explains the purpose behind establishing this occasion and how greater understanding of the law can benefit the public. SBS Assyrian spoke with Marlyn Galo about a special event at the Ashurbanipal Library in Sydney, where three Assyrian authors will be honoured while also celebrating the latest developments and achievements of the library. Ms Galo said the digitisation process is progressing slowly but steadily. She explained that the library is awaiting a grant from the State Library, which would assist in digitising the library’s collection through a professional digitisation company.

She stressed that the Department of Immigration and Citizenship does not guarantee faster processing or endorse such claims.

The Assyrian Language College and for the last 10 years has opened its doors to young Assyrians as well as older adults to learn the Assyrian Language. Anwar Atto is co-founder and principal of this college, spoke to SBS Assyrian about the positive outcome and the role the college plays in educating and preserving the Assyrian language, heritage and culture.
